Accessibility Statement

The B.E. Resilient Foundation believes that care should feel reachable, not gated.

We are committed to making our website, www.beresilientbestrong.com, accessible and usable for as many people as possible — including people using assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice recognition software, switch controls, text enlargement, high contrast settings, keyboard navigation, and other adaptive tools.

Our goal is to support access, dignity, and independence for every visitor.

Our Approach

We are actively working toward aligning our site with widely recognized accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of abilities and needs.

As a small, developing nonprofit project, we are still building. That means you may find areas that are not yet perfect. When you do, we want to know — so we can fix them.

Steps We’re Taking

We are working toward:

  • Providing clear, readable text with strong color contrast.
  • Using headings and structure that make sense for screen readers.
  • Adding descriptive alternative text (“alt text”) for meaningful images.
  • Making buttons and links understandable out of context (for example, avoiding vague links like “click here”).
  • Reducing long blocks of text where possible.
  • Avoiding motion and flashing effects.

As we grow and add new pages (nominations, donations, stories, resources), we are building with accessibility in mind.

Known Limitations

Because this project is still in early stages, there may be areas that are not fully accessible yet. These may include:

  • Images or graphics that do not yet have alt text.
  • PDFs or downloads that are not fully compatible with screen readers.
  • Embedded third-party tools (for donations or sign-ups) that use their own code.

If you find something that creates a barrier for you, please tell us. You are not bothering us. You are helping us do this right.

Need Assistance?

If you have trouble using this website, or if you need information in a different format (for example, large print, plain text email, or a verbal summary), please reach out.

We will respond and work with you directly.

Subject line: “Accessibility Help”

When you contact us, it’s helpful (not required) if you can tell us:

  • The page you were trying to use
  • What you were trying to do
  • What tool you’re using (for example, mobile screen reader, desktop browser, etc.)

That helps us troubleshoot faster and fix it for you and everyone else.

Ongoing Commitment

Accessibility is not a one-time task for us. It’s part of how we treat people.

We will continue improving this site as we add new features, programs, and stories, and we welcome feedback from our community.
